Updates Join my updates mailing list and receive update announcements in your mail box! August 21, 2005~ Another vid by Cole J has been added to the site! This one is a Jack tribute created for the Kawoosh "Bye Bye Jack" Challenge. The song is "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. Eight years of memories means it's hard to say goodbye but RDA (and Jack) is wished all the best.
August 5, 2005~ Episode 4 of the VS9 title "Loyalties" was written by yours truly along with SGC Gategirl. All VS9 episodes are archived on the VS9 website but there is a link to the story on my fanfiction page.
July 15, 2005~ The Virtual Season 9 has arrived!
Working on this project explains why there have been no personal updates at the Lair lately. On behalf of the entire Virtual Season 9 team, we hope you enjoy the season.
July 1, 2005~ Cole J has a brand new vid to share! Looks like she definitely has the vidding bug! The latest vid is "You're Still the One" by Shania Twain. A wonderfully fun Sam/Jack treat!
June 3, 2005~ I know it's been a long time coming but I finally have an update to share! First, I'm extremely pleased to welcome a new vidder to The Lair! Cole J has completed her very first vid and I'm happy to have it hosted here. The vid is a shippy one featuring Sam and Jack and is set to "The Rose" by Bette Midler. It's a very lovely vid and I hope you'll check it out! Be sure to send Cole J an email and let her know what you thought of her first effort! And look for more vids to appear from Cole J soon. Second, I have a small vid of my own to share! Real life has been hectic (a new house and the end of another school year) but when folks at the Kawoosh Vidmaker's Forum issued a challenge to create an "opening credits" vid for SG1 using theme songs from other shows... well, I couldn't resist when I found this music. The vid is "AstroBoy" from a 60's cartoon. The end result is just a bit of fun and was a lot of fun to make after a rather long vidding dry spell.
February 6, 2005~ I'm very pleased to announce that Sam23's music vids have found refuge at the Lair. Sam has been making vids for a long time but is unable to upload them to her site, Sam's Quarters, for reasons we won't get into here. Be sure to check her vids out and let her know we're glad to have them out there again for everyone to enjoy!
January 4, 2005~ Wow, for the first update of the new year this one is a doozy! First, I just have to say "Thank you!" for all the nominations and votes in the 2004 Stargate SG-1 Music Video Awards! "Lock and Load" took First Place in the Jack O'Neill category, "Dead Egyptian Blues" took First Place in the Other Character category, and "The Promise" took Second Place in the Sam/Jack category. It really is an honor and I thank the Awards Team for their hard work. Other Music Video news... I have completed a "re-edit" of my very first vid "Last Man Standing" with music by Jimmy Buffett. It is essentially the same vid, I just used better quality source video so it looks much better. A large version of this vid is now available as well. SGC-Gategirl has completed two trailer vids for her award-winning fic, "The Bonds of Friendship" and they have been uploaded. "The Bonds of Friendship" won the "Best Jack Angst" category in the 2004 Stargate SG-1 Fan Awards. Arrietty has also done some re-editing on her first vid, "To Sir, With Love" a Sam/Jack ship vid. Better quality source files and the use of some new brushes have really made a great vid even better! Perhaps most amazing is the fact that I managed to complete a fic for the 2004 Jackfic-a-thon! Seventeen Jackfic'ers submitted challenges and each of us received one of the challenges in return. I was only a few weeks late with mine which isn't bad for me at all. The new fic is titled "No Matter the Cost" and I haven't enjoyed writing anything this much in a long time. Summary: SG-3 has been missing in action for nearly six weeks. When the SGC receives word from its allies that the missing team has been captured by a Goa’uld, Jack authorizes a rescue mission. It’s business as usual at Cheyenne Mountain… or is it?
December 11, 2004~ No new content today but a big "Thanks!" for the nominations in the 2004 Stargate SG1 Music Video Awards. There are so many great artists and vids nominated this year - including Arrietty and Eleri - and I hope you take the time to check out the the vids and vote!
November 25, 2004~ Happy Thanksgiving! I have a new video to share. It's a team vid which I suppose can be classified as light humor. The song is "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" by Jim Henson singing as Ernie. Yes, Jim Henson of Sesame Street and Muppet fame. For the first time, two different file sizes are available. I also added a large file for my previous vid, "The Promise". More large files are coming soon.
November 21, 2004~ See...I can update in less than three months! I am pleased to announce the addition of a new vidder to The Hoodat Lair! SGCGategirl has launched her vidding career with two offerings. "One Last Breath" by Creed is a Jack-focused episode vid for Abyss. "Someone Told Me" by The Killers is (according to the vidder) a unique perspective on the Sam/Jack/Pete triangle. Be sure to check out her vids and let her know what you think!
November 20, 2004~ Wow, has it really been three months? My apologies that this update has been so long in coming. A new vid by Arrietty has been uploaded! It's a Sam/Jack vid to "I'll Fly With You" by Gigi D'Agostino. Two new vids by Eleri have been uploaded! Both are set to instrumental pieces by Christopher Beck. "Close Your Eyes" is an episode vid for Point of View and "Magic Snow" is an episode vid for Learning Curve. Be sure to check them out and let the vidders know what you thought! And remember, nominations are open for the SG1 Music Video Awards now! Yours truly has a new vid to offer as well. This one is a Jack/Sam vid inspired by the last few minutes of Lost City. It's "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman. Plus, a new fic has been added! "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie O'Neill" is one of those drabble challenge inspired fics that didn't want to be a drabble. A pre-SG1 fic dealing with Jack, Charlie, and family tradition.
August 21, 2004~ I have a new finished fic! It's "The Right Man for the Job" in which Jack finally gets that trip to the Whitehouse. It's sort of a missing scene somewhere between New Order and Zero Hour. Hope you enjoy it!
August 19, 2004~ Just wanted to give a huge thanks to the SG1 Awards team for all their hard work. And thanks to everyone who cast a vote for my "For What It's Worth" Jack vid. I am very proud to display the graphic on my music vid page and owe a chocolate covered SG1 character of her choice to Morgan for putting up with my nitpickiness. Jack looks GOOOOOD! Thanks, Morgan!
August 8, 2004~ Two new hosted vids have been uploaded! Eleri has a new vid for the episode Abyss. The song is "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne. Arietty has a new Jack/Sam shippy vid to the song "If You're Not the One" by Daniel Bedingfield.
July 5, 2004~ Well, I have a unique update today. Arietty has a new vid but so does someone else! It seems Arietty and Amanda both liked a song a lot and agreed to do vids at the same time without discussing their ideas or seeing each other's efforts until they were complete. The song is "Whisper" by Evanescence. More on the story of the how these vids came to be can be found on Arietty's page. Enjoy!
July 4, 2004~ I really have been wild about vidding these past few weeks. I have a new vid for the episode Abyss. It's Tracy Chapman's "Another Sun" and I thought the song was perfect for that story. I came across it while searching for another Chapman song for an entirely different vid so look for another one featuring her talents very soon.
July 3, 2004~ Just in time for the American 4th of July holiday, Eleri has a new vid! It's "American Soldier" by Toby Keith and the vid is a tribute to the heroes of the SGC and the real life heroes out there as well! In addition, Eleri has reworked her vid "Hello" and offers a new and improved version for your perusal! Be sure to let her know what you think!
June 27, 2004~ This vid may have been edited in under twenty-four hours but it was a lot longer than that in the making. The song is "After You're Gone" by Iris DeMent and it's a Janet Frasier tribute vid. Get the tissues ready.
June 26, 2004~ I have another vid completed! "Were You Born an Asshole?" by Jimmy Buffett features the politician we all love to hate... Robert Kinsey.
June 19, 2004~ I finished a new vid! It's "Wipe Out" by The Beach Boys. Lotsa whumping in this one as SG1 and friends get shot at, knocked over, tossed, hit, zatted, and blown up. They get to return the favor a few times so don't worry. This is my first instrumental vid and was quite the exercise in timing the clips. I also got to play with some new transitions. Enjoy!
June 17, 2004~ Another vid by Arietty! Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" featuring the episodes "In the Line of Duty" and "Entity" with Sam's close calls and lots of Jack angst.
May 28, 2004~ Arietty has finished her latest vid! It's "Inappropriate" by Stephanie Kirkham. Great Sam and Jack angstyness! Makes you want to shout "Damn the regs!"
May 14, 2004~ As updates go, this one isn't much but at least I'm still kicking about from time to time! I wrote another drabble! This one is for the "headache" drabble word challenge. It's called "Lucky" and it's a little bit of post-Heroes angst. Plus, I added a new icon called that combines two of my favorite things -- Jack and books! Maybe not an obvious combo but it amused me at the time. And wow! I'm thrilled to have three of my videos ("Off We Go", "Dead Egyptian Blues", and "Rocks and Trees")spotlighted by the site "Blade's Video" which is website all about fan-made music vids. Thanks for the recognition, Blade! I hope to be making some more vids just as soon as real life lets up a bit!
April 24, 2004~ Very small update today. A new LJ icon called Down Time that was created to celebrate a day in which I actually have nothing to do for work or graduate school that can't be put off for the weekend.
April 3, 2004~ A new vid by Eleri! "Mobile" by Avril Lavigne is a Teal'c vid based on the episode Bane. There just aren't enough Teal'c vids out there! You have to check this one out!
March 21, 2004~ A new fic has been finished! "Another Crappy Day in Paradise" is a fic that started out as a project with Arnise and as a present for Dee. The present is a little late but it's the thought that counts, right? Jack is having a really bad day. Also, I added a new LJ icon. I really mean it when I say don't spoil me! Teal'c is my backup. Look out.
March 20, 2004~ New vid by Arrietty! "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler. A great Sam/Jack shippy vid that includes spoilers through The Lost City.
March 10, 2004~ Don't fall out of your chair... but I just completed Part 7 of the Indoctrination series. It's called "Abduction" and before you ask I must admit the series is not complete yet. I know it's been a long long time but as you can see I'm NOT going to abandon this story. It will all be resolved eventually.
February 28, 2004~ New vid by Arrietty! "Just a Job" by Genesis is an action vid oriented around Evolution and Death Knell.
February 22, 2004~ Brace yourselves. I have a new fic. It's called "Letting Go" and it's just a little Sam/Jack fluff piece originally inspired by the "homecoming" drabble word challenge. Just my version of a happy ending and what the future might bring.
February 21, 2004~ I'm very pleased to welcome a new vidder to the fold! Arrietty has just completed her very first vid, "To Sir, With Love" by Lu Lu. I'm thrilled to be hosting her debut vid and I'm eagerly awaiting her next one. Please be sure to check it out and let her know what you think!
February 16, 2004~ A new vid by Eleri! "Slayer's Elegy" by Christopher Beck. This vid is a tribute to Dr. Janet Fraiser and includes spoilers through Heroes. Also, I got a bit of surprising news. The fic I co-wrote with Crash, called Cold Hard Choices, won Best Missing Scene Fic in the Abydos Gate Jack O'Neill Contest. I didn't know it was even entered! Big thanks to my writing partner! You can see more of her stuff at her Incoming Wormhole site.
February 8, 2004~ I finally finished a new vid! "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. Of course, it is a Sam and Jack shippy vid. This one has been stalled for way too long but the muses woke up after they saw Death Knell.
January 25, 2004~ A new vid by Crash! "So Sad, So Lonely" by Matchbox 20. A rousing Action!Jack vid complete with those quirky moments of Crash's unique sense of humor. <vbg> Don't miss this one and be sure to let Crash know what you think of it!
December 17, 2003~ A new vid by Eleri, "Remember When" by Alan Jackson has been added. Eleri's fourth vid is a team vid and everyone gets some screen time! As always, she perfectly captures the song's mood... be sure to check it out!
November 16, 2003~ It's been a productive weekend all around! I completed a new fic, called "Second Chances" that was inspired by the drabble challenge for the word "maverick" but my fic sure isn't a drabble. The fic is a Hammond POV that fills in a missing scene from Children of the Gods. Also, I'm proud to have added a new vid by Eleri. It's "That Kind of Love" by Alison Krauss and it's another lovely Sam/Jack vid. Eleri does a wonderful job of capturing a song's mood in her vids. And be sure to have your Kleenex ready when you watch this one!
November 9, 2003~ A new music vid! It's A Happy Birthday Song by The Arrogant Worms. Humor and Jack-centered of course. This started out as a birthday present for Arnise and then the flu bug from Netu hit me. So it's a bit late. Happy Birthday to ALL those who love Jack!
November 8, 2003~ Another Drabble Challenge Response. The words for the week were "paper people" and "Training" is the title of the drabble. And just in case anyone wonders, the ribbon I included in the graphic for the fic is for Small Arms Expert Marksmanship.
October 15, 2003~ A new fic! Being home sick apparently has a few advantages. The fic is titled "The Measure of a Man" and is a response to one of the Jackfic Weekly Opening Sentence Challenges. Jack and Ry'ac have a talk after the events of Orpheus.
October 13, 2003~ I managed to coax the muses out of hiding long enough to respond to a drabble challenge for the word "twilight. "In the Gloaming" is exactly 100 words which is nothing short of a miracle for me. It's just a small bit of Jack/Sam to remind me that I can actually put words together to tell a story. Plus, I added a new Jack/Sam LJ icon from a Children of the Gods capture.
September 27, 2003~ Another new vid! This one is by Eleri. It's a Sam/Jack vid centered around the episode Entity. The song is Hello by Evanescence. (Hoo's note: Be sure to check this one out. Eleri is finding her mojo with this vid thing. Lovely work with transitions on this one! She's created the perfect mood for this song.)
September 23, 2003~ A new Jack music vid! Bob Seger's Lock and Load. This one is some introspective Jack moments along with some mikta kicking moments. Plus, there is a smattering of Jack/Sam shippyness thrown in here and there for good measure.
September 1, 2003~ I'm happy to announce that I am now hosting Eleri's music vids here at the Lair! Eleri makes her music vid debut with a Sam/Jack vid set to Joe Diffie's Life's So Funny. Welcome her to the music vid fold and check out her work! Look for more vids from Eleri to make an appearance very soon!
August 31, 2003~ This is a celebratory message! At long last, the domain name is pointing to the right location! Woooohooo! It's only been two months in the making. So while I have no new fic or stuff to add, I am thrilled to finally have my site in order again. Plus, I AM working on a new Jack vid that hopefully will be making an appearance soon.
August 17, 2003~ Instead of trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the website url and the hosting companies... I decided to finish a new vid! It's "Dead Egyptian Blues" by Trout Fishing in America. It features our favorite dead (we hope) Goa'uld Apophis! And a bit of Jack is thrown in there too of course.
August 16, 2003 Pt. 2~ Not so fast it seems. I THOUGHT my site was back up but it's still not quite right. If you use the regular url you get the old version of the site instead of the new one. I'm assuming it is because the old hosting company was finally taken over by another company and since my dns changes haven't applied to the NEW company I actually signed up for... well... it's a mess... that's what it is. So.. those of you who make it to THIS temporary url... this isn't a permanent location. Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon.
August 16, 2003 ~ Well, you know how people say everything happens for a reason? That may be true but I don't recommend for anyone the hassle of having a web hosting company go out of business, taking your money with it. While I waited for the domain to be transferred, for the new hosting account to be activated, for dns to propogate... I got antsy and decided to revamp my entire site. All of the content is still there and most of the old links are the same so your bookmarks, if you have any, should still work. Please contact me if you find any broken links or other problems. What's new on the site besides the look? You can join my mailing group now to receive update notices sooner. I have a screensaver featuring Jack O'Neill that you can find in the Graphic Arts section of the site. Also in that section is a page for my original Live Journal icons. And wonder of wonders... I finally got some links added to the Links page.
